Countdown Timer and Date Difference Calculator: How to Use
Planning a trip, a deadline or a wedding means knowing how much time is left. This free tool does three jobs in one: it finds the difference between two dates, counts down to an event, and runs a simple timer.
1. Date difference
Pick a start date and an end date. You get the gap in years, months and days, plus total days, weeks, hours and weekdays from Monday to Friday. Turn on Count the end day too if both days should be included. If the end date is earlier than the start date, the tool swaps them for you.
2. Countdown to a date
Enter a date, a time and an optional event name. The countdown updates every second in days, hours, minutes and seconds. It starts on the next 1 January, and if the moment has already passed, it shows how long ago it happened.
3. Timer
Set hours, minutes and seconds, or tap a preset of 1, 5, 10 or 25 minutes. Press Start, and use Pause and Reset when needed. A short alarm sounds at zero, and the remaining time shows in the browser tab, so you can work in another tab and still see it.

- Cooking, study and exercise: use the timer for short tasks and breaks.
Tips for accurate results
- Check the date format in your date picker, so the day and month are not swapped.
- The countdown uses your device's clock and time zone.
- The weekday count does not know about public holidays. Subtract those yourself.
- For the timer sound, make sure your device volume is on, and press Start once so the browser allows audio.
Keep the page open
The countdown and timer work only while the page is open. The timer uses the clock rather than counting ticks, so it stays accurate even when the browser slows a background tab.
Free and private
Everything runs in your browser. Your dates and event names are never stored or sent anywhere, and there is no sign up or login.
